Meet the
Griffins…America's new first family of comedy!
January 8, 2007 - Meet the Griffins…America's
new first family of comedy! The Griffin family stars in the FOX Television
show FAMILY GUY™, an animated show that is making adults of all
ages laugh till they cry. FAMILY GUY™ is also Stern Pinball's newest
pinball machine, designed by Pat Lawlor, his team at Pat Lawlor Design,
and the engineers at Stern Pinball.
The FAMILY GUY™ pinball features original speech by FAMILY GUY™ show creator,
Seth McFarlane. Seth offers up plenty of hysterical lines as Peter Griffin
(the father), Brian Griffin (the family dog), Stewie Griffin (the baby
who wants to take over the world), and other characters from the show.
The FAMILY GUY™ pinball also features original artwork from the artists
who create the FAMILY GUY™ television show, as well as famed pinball artists
John Youssi and Margaret Hudson.
The FAMILY GUY™ pinball machine introduces a unique feature to pinball,
Stewie's mini-playfield. Stewie's mini-playfield is a small pinball playfield
that sits in the upper right hand corner of the main playfield. It has
mini-flippers that the player controls with the regular flipper buttons
when the game is in 'Stewie mini-playfield' mode. The mini-playfield even
has ramps and targets to shoot at. All the while a toy of Stewie turns
on its axis in front of the mini-playfield, taunting the player into believing
they have no chance of beating Stewie.
Additional features on the game include: toys of each of the six Griffin
family members by Mezco Toys; a Patriot Ale can with a Brian Griffin toy
standing on top that can be struck by the ball (the game owner will be
provided with an extra set of decals if they want to change Patriot Ale
to Patriot Root Beer); two captive pinballs that when struck spell out
P-I-N-B-A-L-L; and plenty of Multiball features.
Gary Stern says, "FAMILY GUY™ has great depth and is fun and easy to understand
for the casual player. This is a great game for both home owners and game
operators."
The FAMILY GUY™ television show was created for FOX in 1999 by animator
Seth McFarlene. The show was cancelled once in 2000 and a second time
in 2002. However, strong DVD sales and the large audience for reruns on
the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim convinced FOX to restart the show in
2005. So far, it is one of the few shows in television history to be canceled
and later revived by the power of their fan bases. It is now the second
highest watched comedy on TV, only behind Desperate Housewives. The sixth
season of FAMILY GUY™ premiers in fall 2007, with a seventh season airing
in fall 2008. FAMILY GUY™ also has over $35 million in DVD sales, with
season five having just come out in November 2006.
