August 14, 2006 - As requested by its organizers,
Stern Pinball lent two pinball machines to the V.I.P. Music Lounge at
the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago for the musicians performing at this year's
Lollapalooza Music Festival to play. Over the course of three days, famous
rock and hip-hop musicians enjoyed both Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean
and THE SIMPSON™/PINBALL PARTY.
This year's Lollapalooza featured many major acts in music today, including:
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Wilco, Kanye West, Flaming Lips, Ween,
Ryan Adams, Blues Traveler, Manu Chao, Death Cab for Cutie, My Morning
Jacket, Queens of the Stone Age, Common, Gnarls Barkley, Violent Femmes,
Aqualung, The Frames, Wolfmother, and many others. Eight stages showcased
130 on ten acres that went from ten in the morning all the way to eleven
at night on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 4th through 6th. It was
estimated that 35,000 people were in attendance each day. Lollapalooza
was held at Grant Park, next to Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago. The
Hard Rock Hotel is located across the street from the park on Michigan
Avenue. Marc Schoenberg, Stern Pinball's Director of Project Management,
was in attendance.
Marc says, "The V.I.P. Lounge was a special place to be for this year's
Lollapalooza. The pinball machines were constantly being played by musicians
of all ages, and clearly everyone was having a great time."
