Stern Pinball Press Release

... World Poker Tour Pinball Machine to our troops over in Afghanistan

September 5, 2006 - Stern Pinball recently gave a WORLD POKER TOUR® Pinball Machine to our troops over in Afghanistan.  The pinball machine was sent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, located in Tucson, Arizona.  It was then flown over to Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, where the troops are playing it today.

The unit, the 41st Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron (EECS) has been deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM since April of 2004.  Initially, they flew out of Karshi-Khanabad, Uzbekistan until they moved to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, in June of 2005.

Chief Master Sergeant David K. Metz, who contacted Stern about acquiring a pinball machine for the troops, says, "Without ever having a day off during their time here, the majority of their time is here at work with most putting in at least 12 hours a day.  When they do have some downtime between missions or while the plane is flying, they play ping-pong or cards or read a book … having something as exotic as a pinball machine has done wonders for morale and greatly help in making their time here more enjoyable.  From all of us to all of you at Stern Pinball, thank you!"
