Speech mode options

March 31, 2005 - Stern Pinball's SOPRANOS® pinball machine has easily adjustable levels of speech content. They include:

  1. Adult Speech On - The game speech includes use of "F" and "S" words plus some beeps in place of these words.
  2. Partial Adult Speech - The game speech includes some simulated swear words and bleeps.
  3. Adult Speech Off - No swear words or bleeps. Some dot matrix animations are also turned off by this adjustment.

A sheet describing these levels of speech is posted on the backglass of each game. Distributors can also post this sheet next to the game in their showroom.

THE SOPRANOS® is shipped set at Partial Adult Speech to avoid full adult speech appearing in inappropriate locations. Stern suggests use of Adult Speech On for locations such as bars. Players at bars will get a kick out of the language, which is appropriate for the theme of the game. Distributors should tell customers about the Adult Speech On option.

The Bada Bing! Club section of the playfield features two dancing girls. Should customers not want the Bada Bing! dancing girls, Stern has a Modesty Kit available. The Modesty Kit consists of two little billboards that simply have the words Bada Bing!. Please contact Stern's Part Sales Department in the unlikely even you need a Modesty Kit.

Finally, both speech and dot matrix language are available in English, Spanish, Italian, German and French, and can be downloaded for Stern's website, www.sternpinball.com. Stern suggests to use Spanish speech in U.S. Hispanic locations in order to best introduce pinball machines to this new audience of players.

THE SOPRANOS® is a service mark of Home Box Office, Inc.
